Dear Native Americans,
Please forgive me for this sin
I missed the boat this morning
To see the sunrise gathering
We were condition to fight one another
From Blacks killing you in war
To you enslaving a few of our brothers
Your earth mother
We help destroyed by aiding the capitalism struggle
You cry for help but we ignored you by turning out backs on one another
Redskins, Indians, and Chiefs
Offensive or not we rock their gear
While you plea for help
We act oblivious call it ignorant sleep
The trail of tears still lives beyond its years
But it’s amazing the resilience you’ve displayed, while being feared
Today the Pilgrims honor you by having a feast then slaughtering you
While taking your land, raping your women and mocking you
I can not partake in such a tragedy
No parade
No turkey
No dessert
No EGG NOG and Brandy
I will further remove and denounce this holiday so forgive my family
Who looks blindly to these actions
Like a day of victory
Don’t need a day to tell me how thankful I am for you
From the Miwoks
the Wappos
Olhones
And the Sisquocs
Funny all this food people prepare and will throw away a day later and act a fool on Friday while not being thankful for their neighbor
Reservations are made while your Reservations in North Dakota are gray
You fight for clean water while the rest if the country ignore your play
We’ve been a terrible guest in your country on the contrary
A lot of us was conditioned since the birth of slavery
In your culture the hawk can see wisdom from a higher perspective
Which is why I tattooed it, followed it, and sought it’s direction

Great post. This is a lot of TRUTH! We have to be mindful when we give our energy to these horror-days. We want our ancestors to love and honor BUT then we turn around and honor holidays that celebrate death,genocide,slavery and rape. We have to keep that in mind on “Colonizers Day”. Here’s a good video that breaks down the truth about this so-called holiday.

For me it’s the letter of the law vs the spirit is of the law, right. How many of my friends and family thinks I’m an oddity because I don’t want to partake in a majority slaughter holiday? Why do people prefer the pretty lie over the ugly truth??

I ask myself that question all of the time! There are three optons that people make when confronted with the truth. A) Go into denial and refute that the person who is bringing you the knowledge has gotten to that point before they did (egotism). B) Once they hear and accept the knowledge, they have to live and abide by that truth. C) Just completely ignore the information that they received and not have to make any changes in their life.

Contributions like music, dance, art, language, government, wisdom, knowledge and respect for all of mother earths creations. When you look across that table and see all that delicious food you are all about to share don’t forget even the turkey you are about to eat, the corn, the potatoes, the sweet potatoes and chocolate you have for dessert, all native to the Americas and thanks to thousands of years of carefull breeding and domestication by native people. Let us give thanks.

Can I still be part of the #WokeCrew? I had Cornish hens, instead. Seriously, this is a great message, but I’m afraid like other things in America, people just don’t wanna give up their turkey and mac-n-cheese Tareau. Again, it’s a part of that willful ignorance. So, while I joke about my Cornish hens, I’m partly serious as this has been my way to scale back from all of the foolery I used to do, in the name of a holiday where neither of my ancestors were respected or considered.
Side note, though…why do I also have a picture of a hawk??? I think it’s a hawk. I wasn’t sure when it visited me, but some other bloggers insisted that’s what it was. I’m going to re-blog that one too. We’ll just call December bird re-blog for Tareau month lol

This is my way of being true to myself as a human. I know the battle I face when you rebel against the status quo, but I also know what morally feels good in my heart. How can we as a society want acceptance buy when someone opinion differs from the norm, they are labled. People are stuck in their ways which is ok but it’s the guilt people throw at me for choosing an alternate opinion. I don’t eat pork so my mom automatically think I’m a Muslim. I don’t go to church and I’m no Christian, so I’m a heathen. Lmao you can’t win with people, you can only win yourself. Which is synonymous to your posting about quitting your job. You did what you wanted to do and the only opinion you had to value, was the sole being of the person you have to take care of, your child. It’s crazy because I get the family aspect of Thanksgiving but, why do you need a day to get your family together? As of right now my moms is making all this food for people and the refrigerator is full but most of the food will spoil because I don’t eat a lot of the stuff in there.
As for the hawk reference, good choice of bird. See no Ibis or Canadian Geese. A majestic hawk hahaha. Fun Fact did you know the Turkey was going to be the National symbol of America? It lost to the bald eagle by 1 vote

Yes. Yes and YES! I agree this is why it’s hard to get anyone to do anything different. It’s HARD going against the grain because, as you’ve noticed, a lot of times you’re the only one doing it and what I’ve learned is no one likes to be the only one and no one really likes to be different, no matter how much we shout, “Be yourself.” Literally just told Darryl, that’s why we won’t get far with trying to change anyone’s opinion is because we…don’t…want…to…be…different. Not really.
You were not supposed to read that post yet lol, for some reason WP published right away instead of the date I clicked on. But anyway, yes. That’s a good example. If I listened to everyone else, then I’d be traveling back and forth to a job I knew wasn’t for me, but at least society would love it lol I’m laughing for real, because that’s how a lot of us think. It doesn’t matter what you know to be right or how you feel inside, as long as your friends and family see you as fitting in and doing the “right thing.”
In my mind all of this goes together. Your mom making all that food, for no good reason is a part of social conditioning. Until she stops to examine why she’s even doing that and then realizes she can do something else, or nothing at all, well, you know Thanksgiving will continue.
I absolutely can believe that because as of two weeks ago, I’ve learned that half the country includes thinking people and the other half, not so much. Who would want a flipping turkey as the national bird?

It’s spot on Dr. Garland. Social media has exposed people to fake outrage. Now the things that everyone is outraged about in the digital world, do not align in the real world. It’s like my example of protest. You cant be on social media saying black Lives matter, than go to city hall to protest, then 5 mins later you are at Starbucks and niketown. Capitalism is the root of all this so it’s counterproductive to do those actions. Everyone is blinded by what’s popular. Everyone acts shocked when truths come to light, especially about injustice.

I don’t celebrate Tgiving to honor pilgrims or to buy into that whole bullshit story.
I just see it as a time to come together with family and be thankful for one another and for all that we have.
I don’t know any black folks that give a shit about pilgrims.
That said, I spoke to a black archivist that told me that some Native American tribes are purging their roles of “Black Indians” who had previously been “certified” tribe members. She said it’s about money.

There has been a few tribes to denounce black Indians. Here in California if there is ever a change of guardianship, they ask you if the paternal or maternal parents has native American ancestry. If so, the courts must trace the lineage back and seek the eldest tribe member to see if the tribe would like to adopt the child or children. I won’t shoot the messenger because I’m a knife man hahahahaha.

Good one man. I’ve been slowly pulling away spiritually from this European holiday. My stomach can’t take the food my family traditionally cooks on this day since I changed my eating habits a year ago so it’s only a matter of time before I go cold turkey.

You arrive entitled to celebrate whatever holiday or religion or celebrations as you may please. Isnt that’s what America is allegedly about? I’ve read Daryl’s post and as well as a few other posts that have a similar view point as mines. Does that make me resent you or think a certain type of way about the great Dr. Garland and her family? No? Hell my mama represents everything I am not but at the end of the day it’s all preference. My post was forwarded to all my coworkers and friends and family members to tell them look you do you but don’t bother me basically. Not everyone shares the same point of view so please don’t enforce yours. Anytime someone (especially in the black community) breaks away from “standards” It’s overly scrutinized. Whether it’s sexuality, Christianity, hell down to soul food, you will be labled all dam day. I don’t celebrate Xmas nor thanksgiving, nor partake in black Friday or anything, but I know how important those days are for the general populous. I’m no grinch, I just don’t want to be bothered with the holidays. My kids celebrate the holidays and I tell my daughter that she can celebrate whatever she wants and pick whatever religion she wants. My job is just to teach ger to respect herself (and hate the LA Lakers hahahahahaah)

Fire post! I feel you – this holiday is a total affront to human rights. It angers me beyond comprehension because people are just so ignorant to the history of this and how it continues to play out in our celebrations.
I personally have a problem with the reasoning that Thanksgiving is about spending time with family. I am fine with that – but lets do it on another day, and not at the expense of Natives!

It’s all good man. I actually got a response from a native American brother and it was amazing. When I was a tour guide I live studying about the natives of California and the different tribes.

That’s cool! I always wanted to learn more about the indigenous people. They are so invisible … pushed onto reservations, and contrary to the narrative of BLM, they have the highest rates of police murder.
